Urbanic Producer Pack II is a massive, high-quality sample library which fits every urban producer's needs. The over 1.8 GB content will give you a huge amount of inspiration to create completely new tracks or to go over current ones and give them the final touch. All sounds are organized and sorted to fit various urban genres like: Hip Hop, RnB, Crunk, Dirty South, G-Funk and many others.

The Urbanic Producer Pack II is divided into five main folders and consists of 2034 samples, sounds and loops that you can incorporate into any style of urban music. Content is grouped into:

• 1.057 single drum and percussion sounds,
• 217 percussion and shaker loops,
• 179 synth basses and leads sounds,
• 429 instrument loops,
• 152 effect sounds (sfx sounds).

Structure

The UPP2 system of design includes comprehensive organization and forethought for practicality and ease of use. Elastik instrument access and programming provided. Below you‘ll find a detailed description of each of the main components found in UPP2.

01 Drum Single Sounds and Percussion Sounds
Tons of grab and go ready, punch-filled and over-the-top: kick drums, claps, snare, high-hats, cymbals, tambourines, wind chimes, djembe (small, mid, big) and bongo samples. But also a huge ammount of different shakers, such as eggs, rattles, caxixis, maracas, rainsticks and nearly everything else.

02 Percussion and shaker loops
This section consists of shaker, tambourine, bongo, djembe, clay drum and mixed percussion loops, which you can mix with each other to create within seconds, new unique loops.

03 Synth Sounds
The 179 Synth Single Sounds are divided into bass and lead sounds, including types, such as sinus, saw, resonance, sub, crispy and distorted sounds for example. We sampled the sounds with lengths of up to 8 seconds. All sounds were created with these synthesizers: Moog Voyager, Studio Electronics SE-1, Alesis Andromeda A6, Korg MonoPoly, Oberheim Xpander, Oberheim OBMX.

04 Instruments
The 429 instruments loops are separated into bass, guitar themes, Rhodes, strings, synth and a misc loop folder. The misc folder includes various instruments such as brass, organ, harp, flute, clavinet. Some of the bass and lead melodies are available in different types of sounds and groove, to guarantee high flexibility. Most of the 17 Guitar themes consist of various loops, which are different in the way of style and accent.

05 SFX Sounds
The 152 Sound Effects are split into sweeps, bits and pieces and a vinyl folder. The bits and pieces will give your music a more electronic feeling, while the vinyl folder—with its vinyl crackles—gives it a vintage touch

In addition to the pitch and tempo manipulation, Elastik’s central Loopeye is a detailed loop-editing tool. A large number of parameters can be adjusted, including slice-based pitch-shifting, volume and pan, reverse, formant, filter and resample. Elastik even includes a random sound replacement function called INSPIRE: one click on the Inspire button and Elastik will select an alternative loop, providing just that bit of additional inspiration when you need it. All this can be done on the fly and without leaving the Elastik environment. You can define which soundbanks will be used in the Inspire tool with the new Inspire browser.

Urbanes Groove-Gepäck

Das Producer Pack 2 ist der neueste Teil der Urbanic-Librarys des deutschen Unternehmens Überschall. Zum unverbindlichen Ladenpreis von 99 Euro erhält man eine Klangbibliothek für Hip-Hop und R&B, dessen Basis der von Überschall entwickelte Elastik Player ist. Er lässt sich standalone oder als Plug-in betreiben und bringt zahlreiche innovative Features mit sich, beispielsweise das Loopeye-Window, FX-Editing auf Slice-Basis und Realtime-Strechting der Loops. Die vorliegende Library ist bestückt mit zahlreichen Schleifen und Einzelsamples verschiedenster Instrumentengruppen.

Von typischen Drum-Sounds über Streicherklänge und Pianos bis zu Vintage-Synthesizern ist alles vertreten. Einzelne Loops sind nach Gruppen und Tonarten untergliedert. Wir haben für euch getestet, ob dieses Paket urbanen musikalischen Ansprüchen gerecht wird und für Anfänger und Profis gleichermaßen geeignet ist.

DETAILS

Producer Pack 2 Library
Vollgepackt mit Klängen der Musikrichtungen Hip-Hop, R&B, Crunk, Dirty South und G-Funk gibt sich die 1,8 GB große Klangdatenbank des Urbanic Producer Packs 2. Von den insgesamt 2034 Loops und Samples sind 1057 einzelne Drum- und Percussion-Sounds. Dazu kommen 179 Synth-Bässe und Lead-Klänge sowie 152 Effekt-Sounds. Auch die Anzahl der Schleifen kann sich sehen lassen. Vorzufinden sind ganze 429 Instrumenten-Loops und 217 Percussion-/Shaker-Loops.

Eine große Auswahl an typischen Schlagzeugklängen wie Kicks und Claps stehen im Ordner Drum und Percussion bereit, darüber hinaus Klänge wie Eggs, Maracas oder Rainsticks. Als Schleifen finde ich im Verzeichnis Percussion/Shaker-Loops viele Sounds wie Shaker, Tambourines und Bongos. Aber auch in Sachen Synthetik wird man beim Producer Pack 2 fündig. Hier treffe ich auf Klassiker wie Moog Voyager, Oberheim Xpander und den Korg Mono/Poly. Darüber hinaus sind Instrumente wie zum Beispiel Bass, Gitarre, Orgel oder Flöte als einzelne Sounds oder Loops im Angebot. Klänge wie Sweeps, elektronische Effekte und Vintage-Vinyl-FX stecken im Ordner Sound Effects.

PRAXIS

Urbanic Producer Pack 2
Die Urbanic Producer Pack 2 Library ist in die 5 Rubriken Drums und Percussions, Percussion Loops, Synth Sounds, Instrument Loops und SFX unterteilt. Drums und Percussions stellt eine große Auswahl an soliden Kicks, Snares, Hi-Hats und dergleichen bereit, die definitiv professionellen Ansprüchen gerecht wird. Eine zuverlässige Grundversorgung an Percussions, wie Bongos, Djembe oder Windchimes, liefert diese Sektion ebenso. Besonders die vielen groovenden Shaker-Loops sind sehr vielseitig einsetzbar. Dennoch fehlt mir ein wenig die Frische in den Sounds, denn einige der hier gehörten Samples sind wohlbekannt und somit, zumindest für den erfahrenen Anwender, keine wirkliche Offenbarung. Eine qualitative Steigerung gegenüber dem Producer Pack 1 ist für mich nicht erkennbar. Die Synthesizer-Sounds sind unterteilt in Bass und Leads. Obwohl ganze drei Ordner voller Bass-Synthesizer im Angebot sind, klingen diese durchgehend relativ identisch. Echte Variationen? Fehlanzeige! Wesentlich besser und abwechslungsreicher kommen da schon die Lead-Klänge rüber.

Das Herzstück unserer Test-Library ist der Ordner Instrument Loops. Dieser teilt sich in die Sektionen Basslines, Synthlines, Guitar Themes, Rhodes, Strings und Misc auf. Qualitativ überzeugen die druckvollen und abwechslungsreichen Bass-Schleifen, die variantenreichen und eingängigen Synthesizer-Linien sowie die große Palette an Gitarren-Riffs. Von Akustik, über funkige Wah-Wahs bis zu verzerrten Melodien bleiben kaum Wünsche offen. Doch leider hat die Sache einen kleinen Haken. Genau wie beim Producer Pack 1 ist die Auswahl an verschiedenen Tonarten ziemlich eingeschränkt und somit sind einzelne Loops zum Teil harmonisch nicht kompatibel. Das trifft auch auf die Rhodes-Klänge zu, die zudem noch ein wenig kraftlos in Erscheinung treten. Bei den Streichern gibt es gegenüber dem Producer Pack 1 dann wesentlich mehr Auswahl, das Problem mit den Tonarten besteht aber auch hier.

Definitiv positiv hervorzuheben sind die schönen Flöten, die filigranen Harfen und die sphärischen Pad-Sequenzen – im Gegensatz zu den Horns. Bei den FX-Schleifen ist das Ergebnis sehr gemischt. Während die Sweeps sehr interessant klingen und sich die Vinyl-Sounds sehr vielseitig einsetzbar präsentieren, sind die sogenannten Bits ’n’ Pieces eher überflüssig. Allgemein kann ich feststellen: Bezüglich der Ästhetik dominiert beim Producer Pack 2 der Westcoast-Sound und der technoide R&B. Und damit ist diese Produkt dann doch wieder sehr am Puls der Zeit. Ja, es gibt ein paar Ausnahmen und ja, einige Sounds sind hinlänglich bekannt, doch in der Summe liefert das Producer Pack 2 Gutes, wenn auch nicht unbedingt bahnbrechend innovatives Ausgangsmaterial zur Erstellung oder Ergänzung von Musikproduktionen der Genres Hip-Hop und R&B.

FAZIT

Das Urbanic Producer Pack 2 von Überschall ist eine vielseitige Klangbibliothek zur problemlosen und schnellen Erstellung von Hip-Hop und R&B Playbacks. Der Sound der Library ist sehr zeitgemäß und überzeugt durch eingängige Synthesizer-Sequenzen, vielseitige Gitarrenklänge und druckvolle Bassschleifen. Dabei ist der innovative Elastik Player ein fast kinderleicht zu bedienendes Tool. Dennoch sollte man ein wenig Erfahrung in der Produktion mitbringen, weil es bei diesem Produkt keine vorgefertigten Grundsongs oder Construction Kits gibt, wie etwa bei der Urbanic Library. Genau wie das Producer Pack 1 eignet sich Teil 2 zur Ergänzung professioneller Produktionen. Doch hat auch dieses Paket ein paar Schwächen. So sind längst nicht alle Loops in allen Tonarten erhältlich und die Sounds klingen wenig neu. Dennoch: Ich kann erfahrenen Anwendern und Vollblutprofis diese Library ohne Einschränkungen empfehlen, denn neben professionellen Hip-Hop-, R&B- und Pop-Produktionen ist sie auch zur Filmvertonung, zur Erstellung von Demosongs und für Werbe-Jingles bestens geeignet.
